Honor 9A: an entry-level smartphone with 3 photo modules
Honor has just announced the launch of Honor 9A , its entry-level smartphone. Positioned at 149 €, he put on a big battery and its 3 photo modules to make people forget the absence of Google services.
Honor had been discreet on the French market for a while. The manufacturer of mobiles, subsidiary of Huawei, had left us on an Honor View 30 Pro which never really found the way to the stalls. It is by the other end of the range that Honor returns to us, with a 9A with more modest ambitions, from a technical point of view. Inevitably, by placing it at less than 150 €, Honor puts above all on the volume for its newcomer.
But the U.S. embargo on Huawei and Honor stands before Honor 9A . Chinese mobile cannot access Google Mobile Services or the Play Store app store. He turns like his cousins the P40 and P40 Pro to the in-house store, AppGallery, in which we find some of the popular applications. An absence that will not be, unless a huge surprise, not compensated by performances as dazzling as those of the P40 Pro.
Honor 9A: Some assets to highlight
The fact remains that the Honor 9A, for its price range, offers certain advantages. Admittedly, its 6.3-inch screen displays only an HD + definition (1600 x 720 pixels) for a resolution of 278 ppi, which will suit the less demanding. This LCD panel display is nibbled by a teardrop notch housing the front photo module and its 8 megapixel sensor. At the rear, a 13 megapixel sensor is used for the main module, assisted by a 5 megapixel sensor which is overcome by an ultra wide-angle lens and a 3 modules dedicated to depth measurement. A trio still very rare at less than 150 €.
The animation of the smartphone is entrusted to a MediaTek Helio P22 SoC, a chip that we have already crossed on mobiles like the Sony Xperia L4 or the Moto e6 Plus and which has never satisfied us.
The Honor 9A shouldn’t be a thunderbolt. It has at least the merit of offering 64 GB of internal memory and a 5,000 mAh battery. What potentially allow it to last a long time before claiming its charger. Among its other advantages, we can cite the presence of a microSD port as well as a fingerprint reader on the back.
The release of the Honor 9A is officially planned for July 1, 2020. A date from which it will be sold for € 129, before going up to € 149 on July 15.
