In the Face of the pandemic Covid-19, the wizards voice, Amazon Alexa may have a role to play. According to the firm of Jeff Bezos, they would now be in a position to identify potential cases of people infected by the virus.
Who would have thought that the wizards voice could make themselves useful in the face of a pandemic ? In the United States, Amazon has put in place a system that, on the set of his assistants voice of the range Echo — which incorporates Amazon Alexa —, which is supposed to diagnose the virus of the Covid-19 among users of these devices.
Specifically, the owner of the Amazon Alexa will request its device : “Alexa, what do I do if I think I have the coronavirus ?“, and the last one to learn about the various symptoms of the user by asking, for example, what are their travel history and what were the potential exposures to the virus.
Then, Amazon Alexa should be able to give advice on the basis of official information from the Centers for control and prevention of diseases, the main federal agency of the United States in terms of protection of public health.
In addition to these many tips, it is also possible to ask Alexa to sing a song for 20 seconds to be sure to respect the minimum duration of hand-washing recommended. Amazon indicates that this function is only available in Australia, Brazil, Canada, India, the United Kingdom and the United States. An article from CNET reporting that Google has also added a timer similar to the washing of the hands with its voice assistant.
Amazon Alexa could therefore give a first opinion before the tele-consultation medical. This service Alexa is currently not available in France. And if you pose this same question to our assistant Echo, it then responds : “By a decree published Thursday, march 26, the government has decided to allow the prescription of chloroquine in the treatment against the sars coronavirus (…)“, as you can hear it in the tweet below.
