With its Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, Xiaomi is entering a new phase in its global strategy. Like Huawei before him, the manufacturer is now focusing on high-end mobile particularly ambitious and hope to convince the consumers. We had the opportunity to spend a few hours with the two flagship chinese. The opportunity to make a first opinion.

A sensor 108 megapixel much faster

Let’s start with the picture on these Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro, who pride themselves both to integrate a photo sensor 108 megapixels. If we had already crossed such a definition on the Mi Note 10, these new models are much more efficient to use. He has a chip Snapdragon 865 last cry, the app is much more fluid than on the chinese model tested in late 2019. Thus, where the Mi Note 10 asked several seconds to process a shot in 108-megapixel, the Mid-10 will show a lot faster. On the side of the rendering, things seem however to have improved only slightly. By default, the main module capture pictures in 25 megapixels. They are of good quality, though smoothed. The results seem to be clearly more convincing in 108 megapixels. Sensations already felt on the Mi Note 10.

Of the two new high-end Xiaomi, the Mi Pro 10 is the best equipped. It sports a ultra wide-angle lens (20-megapixel, f/2.6 in), and two telephoto lenses, with a module of 2x (12 megapixel, f/2.4) and a 5x (8-megapixel, f/2). The latter is able to offer a zoom hybrid 50x. Not surprisingly, this is not very convincing. All in all, these secondary modules make shots flattering, but too much processed and smoothed to be realistic.

For its part, the Mi 10 is a little less well equipped. It offers an ultra wide-angle (13 megapixel, f/2.4), a module macro (2 megapixel, f/2.4), as well as a module dedicated to the depth-of-field (2-megapixel). At first contact, these modules suffer from the same problems of image processing as on the big brother, namely a smoothing prominent for clichés and unrealistic, in sum. At the front, the sensor of 20 megapixels is shared by the two models delivers good selfies. However, it is necessary to disable all of the filters in order to observe a natural skin.

A Mi 10 Pro finish better

For the rest, the Mi 10 and Mi 10 Pro share a data sheet very close with for only difference the size of the battery, the latter being slightly more important on the Mid 10. The two phones boast also of the body that is almost identical. To distinguish them, it is necessary to return the terminal. When the Mid 10 includes a glass back is extremely sensitive to fingerprints, the Mi Pro 10 door shell, aluminum much more aesthetically pleasing. The facade is strictly similar on the two phones. The slab Oled 6.67 inches occupies not less than 90 % of the facade. What feeling borderless certainly pleasant, but still not ideal. The lack of a chin, thick, but nothing very serious.

The punch has the merit to quickly forget, as housed in the upper-left corner of the mobile. No problem either on the side of the fingerprint sensor underneath the screen, instead of reactive. At the rear, the skeptics of the island photo rectangular, as advocated by Apple, Samsung and Huawei, will be able to rejoice : Xiaomi has chosen to retain its modules online photo.

In hand, the Mi 10 enjoy the ergonomics the same and convincing. Large and weighing more than 200 g on the scale, they offer a certain feeling of strength. The buttons for lock and volume are located on the right spine, are well positioned, although a little high. But make no illusion, it will be necessary to put both your hands on the beast to handle it correctly.

The slab Oled 6.67 inches shared by both models seems excellent at first. Its refresh rate to 90 Hz, configured by default, offers smooth navigation and nice. It is all the more true in that the chip Snapdragon 865 enables you to multitask very relevant. The battery is still in testing, but it will have to wait for the full test for more information.
