If there is one thing the Nikon Coolpix P600 does, it’s wow factor. Well, at least for birders, stargazers and anyone else who likes to shoot distant subject pictures and movies.
Given the size and weight and price of the camera, the P600’s 60x zoom lens is pretty amazing. It’s not the only 60x zoom on the market, but unlike Panasonic and Samsung ‘s options which start at a 20 mm ultra-wide angle, Nikon‘s lens starts at 24 mm. Which means the P600 can be stretched to 1,440 mm while some other cameras stop at 1,200 mm. If that’s not enough, you can use the new Dynamic Fine Zoom from Nikon to digitally increase the focal length to 2880 mm (and it works really pretty well if you don’t look too close).
The P600 Basic Compact Camera is surprisingly lightweight, but reasonably sturdy.
For its price the 60x zoom is a very good deal! Nikon COOLPIX P600.
This camera is characterised by a huge 60x zoom range equivalent to 24mm–1440mm in 35mm parlance, optical vibration reduction with an ‘Active’ mode that increases the action of the VR for shake-free viewing and shooting at extreme telephoto ends of the lens, and 7fps.
The Nikon COOLPIX P600 Basic Compact Camera is absolutely exemplary.
